The theme of the exhibit was “4th of July”.
Newman was asked to submit works, and submitted three, Saccade (2012), Stimulus (2012), and Synapse (2013).
While Newman was pleased to be included in the exhibit, the curator chose to unfavorably display Saccade (2012) rotated counterclockwise.
The works were displayed as less than desired, in a hallway rather than in a gallery, but there was an apparent shortage of artists for the exhibition.
